Donata Vaitkutė

Mental Skills Lab was founded by a pianist and performance coach Donata Vaitkutė, who is a specialist in Performance Psychology, Stress Management and Mental Skills Training.

Donata's career started as a pianist. She received many international prizes in piano and chamber music competitions and performed in countries, such as Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, France, Spain, Cyprus and the United Kingdom. Donata also played as a soloist with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, and was awarded for her merits by the President of the Republic of Lithuania.

While studying Bachelors in Piano Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Donata won the RSNO Concerto audition and her performance of Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra received a 5-star review in the Herald Scotland.

Having had a lot of experience in performing, Donata always looked for additional ways to improve it. This led her to do a Master of Science in Performance Science at the Royal College of Music in London which she completed with Distinction in 2018. During her studies, Donata focused on Performance Psychology, researching Mental Toughness and Mental Skills in musicians.

Donata presented her research at various science conferences, such as the SEMPRE Graduate Conference at the University of Cambridge (UK), International Symposium on Performance Science at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (Australia), International Symposium “Art in Motion” at the University of Performing Arts Munich (Germany), and various seminars in Lithuania.

Donata strongly believes in continuous learning, and she constantly works on broadening her knowledge by receiving additional training, some of which include:
